Our interior design expertise was sought after to bring this home up to date with a modern style that still honours its Spanish Mission style roots with a modern flair that will last remaining elegant and timeless.

Architecture firm In2 had provided design and permit approvals for an extension and reconfiguration of the existing floorplan for family living.

The original house was cramped with a lack storage for the family of 4, and the kitchen, dining and living areas were disconnected, not allowing the family to relax and spend time together. Many of the rooms were dark and unappealing and surfaces were worn and outdated. Being an older home with character, we were keen to advise our clients about certain features that were important to retain - for example the magnificent leadlight double front doors. After reconditioning the leadlight, stripping the paint away and updating the hardware, they are a beautiful highlight to the entrance of the Spanish style home.

The interior design of the 2 storey home needed special consideration with the selection of materials to maximise the natural light in spaces to keep them light and airy, while also making the spaces feel larger and appealing to spend time in. The open plan kitchen embraces the curved corner window as part of the design and provides ample storage for busy family life. A separate butler pantry extends the kitchen space providing more utility to the kitchen and a laundry that is elegant in its fittings is located adjacent for convenience. This kitchen design with the butler and laundry design was awarded a design finalist for the Kitchen Plus Award 2020 for Victoria, KBDI.

The dining area and family living area is also part of the open space and is the main area the family spends time in. It is perfect for family dinners as well as more formal dinners with a highlight display cabinet that features interally lit shelves to highlight family treasures as well as glassware. A beautiful silver raffia style wallpaper adds that special touch to the family living zone and elevates the overall feeling of the room.
